The Upper Merion Area School District (UMASD) and the Athletic Department is proud to announce that the Upper Merion Area High School and the Upper Merion Area Middle School were honored by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Board of Directors as recipients of the 2014-2015 “Sportsmanship:  The Only Missing Piece Is You!”  Award presented at the PIAA District I annual meeting on Wednesday September 16, 2015.

The award recognizes schools for exemplifying the high ideals of good sportsmanship, conducting itself in an ethical manner, and setting an example for others to follow during competition.

Upper Merion Area School District prides itself in being a Community of Caring and teaches Character Education focusing on Respect, Responsibility, Trust and Family.  These core values are infused in daily lessons and discussions and carry over to our Athletic Programs and community as a whole. 

This is the second consecutive year that the Upper Merion Area High School has received this recognition, the Upper Merion Area Middle School was also most recently honored with the award for the 2012-2013 school year.

Special thanks to the entire Upper Merion Community as these awards would not be possible if not for the efforts by school administration, teachers, coaches, student-athletes, cheerleaders, parents, support staff and the many fans that make up the Viking Nation!
