The Girls Tennis team ended a very successful 2013 season with a record of
6-6. Highlights of the year included 4-3 wins against strong teams from
Pennridge and Coatesville High School. The girls team was led  by a very
strong group of Seniors. The group of seniors included captains Izzi
Geltman and Katie Thai. Emily Wu, Victoria Ung, Tamana Bhangu, Nafisa
Thorpe and Alexis Ramanjulu also led the way with their leadership and
strong play throughout the season. Izzi Geltman and Emily Wu ended the
year with Honorable Mention All League Honors.

The Vikings netted their fourth win of the season at an away meet against Pennridge, Friday, September 6th, making their record 4-1.  With outstanding contributions from Amy Phanthavong in singles and pairs Alexis Romanjulu and Sara Dang, Kelsey Wang and Nora Shaheen, and Caitlyn Dwinnell and Katie Thai, Upper Merion has evidence for pride in the 2013 Girls Tennis program.  Wang and Shaheen had the opportunity to face off against their former teammate, Abbey Sichelstiel, who moved this year, and win a vicious three match set.

Key returners: Seniors- Alexis Ramanjulu, Izzi Geltman, Emily Wu, Katie Thai, Tamana Bhangu  Juniors- Scarlet Wu, Kelsey Wang  Sophomores- Sara Dang, Caitlin Dwinell

Others to watch: Freshmen Amy Phanthavong, Zoey Pillart, Nora Shaheen, and Sarika.

Strengths: An influx of strong freshmen talent and a drive by all the players to improve their game.

Outlook: The Lady Vikings are looking forward to a great season.  Prospects are good for a winning season with so many returning varsity players.  The entire team has shown their dedication to work hard for the team.
