End of Year Review

The Upper Merion Area High School boys cross country team completed
another winning season this fall with a league record of 6-1 earning the
team runner-up in the league. This was the largest team in many years with
27 runners on the roster. Varsity members included seniors Austin Cooper,
Mike Hranek and Jon Gross; juniors Zak Khattabi and Nick Tornambe; and
sophomores Jojo Gallagher and Noah Falasco. Cooper became league champion
at the Suburban One League Championships while earning first team honors
along with Khattabi. Gross and Hranek earned second team honors while
Tornambe and Gallagher earned third and honorable mention respectively. As
a team, the boys placed fifth at the Central Bucks East Invitational,
third at the Bulldog Invitational and 6th at the Salesianum Invitational.
At the PIAA District One Championship meet, 23 out of 27 runners ran their
all time personal bests with Cooper earning a coveted spot for the state
meet by placing 25th. He then successfully competed in the PIAA State
Championship in Hershey, PA placing 47th in a field of 219.

Congratulations to Austin Cooper on his outstanding finish at the PIAA state cross country meet this past Saturday. Austin finished 47th out of 228 competitors on a challenging state course. He's the second qualifier from Upper Merion in the past two years.
