VIKINGS FIELD HOCKEY 2015

Thursday, August 20th- PM practice and Alumini event has be cancelled.

Pre-Season:

  • The first day of practice is Monday, August 17, 2015.
  • Come prepared with all equipment including- stick, mouth guard, goggles, shin guards, sneakers, cleats and water bottle.
  • Players are expected to be present at ALL practices.  Please schedule work, vacations, appointments, etc. around the scheduled practice and game times.
  • It is expected that you come into pre-season already in shape, so it’s important that you work on your conditioning throughout the entire summer- both long distance running and sprints.
  • We will run a timed mile on the second day of practice to assess your physical fitness.  Players are expected to run a timed mile in 8 minutes or under.

Practice times for Week 1 are as follows:

8/17- 8am-12pm, 8/18- 8-11am and 3-5pm, 8/19- 8am-12pm, 8/20- 8-11am and Alumni Night from 5:30-7pm, 8/21- 8am-12pm

Week 2-

8/24- 3-6pm, 8/25- 3-6pm, 8/26- Home scrimmage @ 3:30, 8/27- 3-6pm, 8/28- 8am-12pm

Sport Physicals:

  • You must have a current physical (dated June 1, 2015 or after) in order to participate at the start of pre-season.
  • The school will be offering sport physicals sometime this summer with a date to be determined. An email will go out to parents and you can also check the UM Athletics website for the date.
  • It is requested that you turn in your completed physical form PRIOR to the start of the season. The Athletic Trainers would like all of your completed forms on or before August 7th.  Forms should ONLY be turned in to the Activities office or directly to the Athletic Trainers when they return in August.
  • On day one of pre-season, you must report to the training room before practice to receive your physical card (which you will only receive if you’ve turned in your completed physical packet).

Impact Testing:

  • Any player who has not taken the impact test (for concussions) or had a poor baseline score will take the test the first week of pre-season.  A specific date will be given to each team closer to the start of pre-season.
  • No athlete can scrimmage without completing the test.
