American Conference Track Results

The Upper Merion Boys and Girls Track teams participated in the SOL American Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

In the 100 meter trials, Lexi Ryan qualified for finals on Saturday.  The girls 4x800 relay of Kaitlyn Lutz, Morgan Morton, Ashley Anderson, and Jada Wilson ran a season best of 9:28.65 blowing the competition away qualifying for districts, setting a new school record and a new league record.   The boys 4x800 relay of Zak Khattabi, Kevin Crowe, Abdu Bakillah and Austin Cooper ran a season best and won the event. In the last track event of the day, Lexi Ryan qualified for finals in the 200 meters.

On the field, Anecia Alexaki won the Pole Vault with a height of 11'6" breaking her current school record and setting a new meet record.  Rose Sedgwick took 4th place.  In the long jump, Rose Sedgwick took 5th place and Jovan Nicholson took 4th.  In the discus, Carolyn Helenski took 6th and Gabby LeGendre took 7th.  Jeff Schuebel took 7th in the javelin for the boys.

Saturday was another great day.  The morning started off with Jada Wilson taking 3rd in the 300 hurdles.  Jequan Mitchell ran a PR taking 3rd place in the 300 Hurdles.  Lexi Ryan ran a PR taking 3rd in the 100 meters and Kaitlyn Lutz ran a PR and took 3rd in the 1600.  Jequan Mitchell took 4th in the 400 meters.  The girls 4x100 ran a season best and took 4th place while the boys took 7th.
In the morning field events, Regie Robinson was the league champion in the high jump and took 5th in the triple jump.  Jovan Nicholson was 5th in the triple jump.

After lunch, Jada Wilson won the 800 and Ashley Anderson took 3rd.  Austin Cooper took 2nd place for the boys.  Lexi Ryan returned to run a PR in the 200 and took 7th.  Gab Hnatin ran a PR and got 7th in the 3200.  Jon Gross took 4th and JoJo Gallagher took 7th.  The girls 4x4 took 5th and the boys took 4th.
On the field, Brendan Miller took 3rd place in the shot put.  Carolyn Helenski was the league champion in the javelin and Jenna Anderson took 2nd.

Next weekend the following qualifiers will compete in the District I AAA Championships:

PIAA DISTRICT 1 TRACK RESULTS

The track had a great meet at the District I Championships this past weekend.
 
The morning started off with the girls 4x800 (Kaitlyn Lutz, Morgan Morton, Ashley Anderson, Jada Wilson)  Each girl ran a personal best and they broke their school record set last week and qualified for the finals on Saturday.  
 
Anecia Alexaki tied her school record taking 2nd in the district and qualifying for districts.  
 
Jenna Anderson threw a personal best and took 4th in the javelin earning her a spot at states next Friday. 
 
The day ended with Austin Cooper qualifying for finals in the 800.  
 
Saturday did not disappoint.  The 4x800 ran with the best in the state finishing 8th and securing the final state qualifying spot.  
 
In the afternoon Austin Cooper earned himself a spot at states finishing 3rd in the 800 running a personal best of 1:53.94. (missing the current school record by 4 tenths of a second)
 
Jequan Mitchell, Rose Sedgwick, Lexi Ryan, Carolyn Helenski, Kevin Crowe, Noah Falasco and Zak Khattabi also competed in the championships and did a great job.
